Barack Obama and his Islamist friend Rashid Khalidi

by Brendan Steinhauser ~ October 28, 2008

Here is evidence of yet another radical friend of Barack Obama. As the LA Times reported, Obama is friends with Rashid Khalidi, a pro-Palestinian activist and former spokesman for the terrorist PLO in the 70’s. Obama praised Khalidi at an event in 2003, which was taped, but the LA Times reporter who has the tape is refusing to release it to the public.

From the article:

While teaching at the University of Chicago, Khalidi and his wife lived in the Hyde Park neighborhood near the Obamas. The families became friends and dinner companions.

In 2000, the Khalidis held a fundraiser for Obama’s unsuccessful congressional bid. The next year, a social service group whose board was headed by Mona Khalidi received a $40,000 grant from a local charity, the Woods Fund of Chicago, when Obama served on the fund’s board of directors.

At Khalidi’s going-away party in 2003, the scholar lavished praise on Obama, telling the mostly Palestinian American crowd that the state senator deserved their help in winning a U.S. Senate seat. “You will not have a better senator under any circumstances,” Khalidi said.

The event was videotaped, and a copy of the tape was obtained by The Times.

Now, blogger Erick Erickson is leading a campaign to ask the LA Times to release the video tape of Obama’s speech at the event. Will the liberal media continue to help Obama by sitting on what very well could be a damaging tape of the views of The REAL Barack Obama?

In an email to his readers, Erickson wrote the following:

Peter Wallsten, a reporter for the Los Angeles Times has seen the tape. He wrote about the tape.

Email Peter Wallsten at peter.wallsten@latimes.com. Tell him to release the tape.

Call the Los Angeles Times at (213) 237-5000. Tell the Times the American public has a right to see this for themselves.
